The Carolina Wealth financial process

Every client follows the same four steps, and the pace is yours.

Step 1

Schedule your complimentary consultation

We start with a conversation about your family, your work and what you want your money to do. It costs nothing and there's no obligation.

Step 2

Work on a comprehensive plan

We look at your accounts, insurance and estate documents together and build one plan that covers all of them.

Step 3

Put your plan to work for you

We carry out what we agreed on and work with your attorney and CPA so everyone is using the same information.

Step 4

Monitor and review your progress

We meet with you regularly to check the plan against your goals, and we change it when your life or the markets change.

Services

Four ways we help, and most clients use more than one.

Investment Management

We build and manage portfolios around your goals and how much risk you're comfortable with. You'll know what you own and why you own it.

Financial Planning

A written plan that shows where you stand today and what it will take to reach goals like retirement or a business sale. We update it as your circumstances change.

RightCapital

RightCapital is the planning software our clients use to see their whole financial picture in one place and run what-if scenarios. You can log in any time to see how a decision would change your plan.

Small Business Retirement Plans

We help owners set up and run a retirement plan for the company and its employees. We'll go over which plan type fits your payroll and your own retirement goals.

Who we work with

Our clients come to us at different stages, with different questions.

Families and individuals

Many people come to us holding a large block of company stock or a set of stock options and aren't sure what to do with either. We help sort out what to keep, what to sell and how taxes fit in.

Business owners

If you're thinking about selling a practice, we start planning well before the sale so the numbers are settled before an offer arrives. We also set up retirement plans for the business and its employees.

People entering retirement

Retirement changes how money works, because the paychecks stop and the withdrawals start. We map out your income, and when a surviving spouse takes over the finances, we help them get oriented at their own pace.

What we mean by "wholistic"

We look at the whole picture. Your investments, taxes, insurance and estate plans get reviewed together, alongside what you want your life to look like. Money decisions usually get easier once the life goals are on the table, and we coordinate with your attorney and CPA so nothing gets decided in isolation.

Common questions

Do you charge for the first meeting?

No. The first meeting is complimentary and there's no obligation. It gives us a chance to learn about you and gives you a chance to decide whether we're the right fit.

Do I have to live near Raleigh or Hickory?

No. Most of our team works remotely, and we work with clients across North Carolina by phone and by video. You're welcome to visit either office if you'd rather meet in person.

What does "fiduciary" mean for me?

A fiduciary is required to put a client's interests first. Which standard applies depends on the type of account and the service we're providing, since advisory accounts and brokerage or insurance accounts are treated differently. We explain up front which one applies to you, and you can ask us at any point.
